Four decades of flamenco...

"London's Wigmore Hall is (somewhat more by accident than design, for it was built at the start of the 20th century) the kindest of all the major London concert halls to the sound of vocal or instrumental soloists, and it has long been the preferred venue of guitarists. The present album is a live recording of a concert given to mark the forty years since Paco's début recital there (a picture of the programme for this being included in the booklet, as are musical and biographical notes).



The titles of the pieces don't really convey much; more informative are the names of the flamenco rhythms on which they're based, so I give these below.



The zapateado is a tribute to Paco's late friend (and mine), the great maestro Mario Escudero. Angel Muñoz joins Paco on cajón (percussion) for the last two tracks.
