Christopher OBrien | Chicago, IL United States | 11/21/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "In my travels I have not heard these symphonies played with such utter conviction, passion, grace and attention to the dynamic details as I found on this the second of Jarvi's new Beethoven cycle. I own sets by Blomstedt, Barenboim, Bernstein and Vanska and Furtwangler and they are all examples of passion plays of breadth and warmth, BUT this chamber orchestra under Paavo Jarvi's baton is simply on fire. I cannot get enough of these recordings. The same forces have produced a CD containing readings of the 3rd and 8th that are equally magnificent. These readings are revelatory. HIghly recommended!!!"
