CD Reviews

4.5 star album from Pac's protege's
G$ | B-More, MD | 04/20/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Maybe as good as their previous 2 albums ("Still I Rise" & "Ride Wit us Or Collide Wit Us") and probably slightly better, Young Noble, Edi Amin, Napoleon, and Kastro return with what made them great rappers to start with, good deep lyrics and some gangsta $h!+ as well. Guests are few on this 13 song album. It has 2 classics, 1 near classic, 2 ok songs, and the other 8 are good songs. Napoleon & Young Noble are on 11 songs, Edi is on 10 and Kastro (like usual is represented much less) is on 7. Production is good, Reef & LT Hutton each did 2 songs, and Muhammad Red, Shorty B, Poli Paul, Joey GLasses, Quimmy Quim, Floss P, Bosko, Mike Dean & Mack 4 all did 1 song. A must have for Outlawz fans.

#2 - 10 (Classic -- Edi, Kastro, Noble, Napoleon, Big Syke) -- good beat

#3 - 9 (edi, Kastro, Noble)

#4 - 8.5 (edi & kastro)

#5 - 8.5 (edi, kastro, noble, napoleon -- deep song)

#6 - 8.5 (edi, kastro, napoleon, noble)

#8 - 8.5 (edi, napoleon, noble -- upbeat song)

#9 - 7.5 (kastro, napoleon, noble -- deep song)

#11 - 8.5 (noble f/ edi -- upbeat dirty song)

#12 - 8 (kastro, edi, noble, napoleon, seal)

#13 - 10 (CLASSIC -- kastro, napoleon, noble, kaillion -- good beat)

#14 - 8 (edi, napoleon, noble, 2Pac, next -- also on 2Pac's "Until the End of Time")

#15 - 9.5 (napoleon -- good beat)

#17 - 8 (edi, napoleon, noble, ed bone, kamikaze)

"Outlawz are an amazing group. They have the mind of 2Pac because they know what REAL RAP is and they know what to feed rap fans. This album is a prime example of what I am talking about. I don't own 'RIDE WIT US OR COLLIDE WIT US' so this is basically the first OUTLAWZ album I own, besides 'STILL I RISE'. I must say I am pretty impressed with the effort the OUTLAWZ have put into this album. I really thought that they would sound different without 2PAC but I guess I was wrong. Songs like 'GHETTO GUTTA', 'RIZE', 'Y'ALL CAN'T DO', 'THIS IS OUR LIFE', 'REDBULL & VODKA' and 'WORLDWIDE' show you what the OUTLAWZ can really provide. These are by far the best songs on the CD because they have excellent beats. 'THIS IS OUR LIFE' is probably the best song on the CD and is real touching and down to Earth. The tune is absolutely amazing and the guitar sounds so good together. 'GHETTO GUTTA' is another amazing track to listen to, sounds a lot like 2Pac's 'AMBITIONZ AZ A RIDAH' but other than that, it's an amazing track to listen to. 'WORLDWIDE' is by far one of the best songs I've heard from the Outlawz. The beat is just so mind-blowing and their lyrics in this is one of their finest. It also features 2PAC so that's another reason why this song is just fantastic. This CD is definately a winner, I give them props for making such an amazing album. Really, I thought these guys would witness their downfall after 2Pac "died" but their coming out strong and stronger than ever, which is why they have closely become my 2nd favorite rap group (Bone Thugs being my first). This album proves that they don't need 2Pac, you just need to keep the faith in these guys. Who knows, maybe their next album will even be better than this...PEACE
