"I heard this charming album in 1977 and fell in love. 27 years later I'm still in love. I just painstakingly transferred my old cassette taped off a scratched LP onto a CD and then found Novos Baianos on Amazon! Not many musicians compose tunes that stand the test of time. This is refreshingly different Brazilian Fusion Pop music, there's even a bit of jazz rock in the arrangements. I would describe this as 2 husky seductive voices with classic Brazilian accoustic guitaring backed by a tight electric rhythm section. The lyrics sound so lovely, they transcend all language barriers, though I would love a translation. I heard this at a time when I was deeply into fusion, funk and Paul Simon, but good music is good music. This is an essential part of anyones music collection...buy it."

"Refreshing and "young" even if it is from the 70's and doesn't belong to any trendy vogue!
If you like brazilian classic samba and always looked for something as spontaneous and popular but more in the modern taste, this is your CD."

"That is one of the best musical works of the brazilian music of all times. A true masterpiece, containing various classics, such as Preta Pretinha, Brasil Pandeiro, Besta e Tu and Acabou Chorare. Inspired arrangements by Pepeu Gomes and Moraes Moreira, mixing tradicional brazilian music with american/england rock and folk influences. 12 string steel guitars, 6 string nylon guitars, eletric guitars, cavaquinho (4 steel strings) and the pure brazilian percussion, all in a CD without weak songs. If you have to choice just one CD to know about the modern brazilian music - post bossa nova -, buy this one."
