Synopsis

Album Description
John Hall, Larry Hoppen and Lance Hoppen, collectively known as the platinum hit-makers Orleans are back after a long hiatus between studio albums. "Dancin' In The Moonlight" continues the fine tradition and marks the amazing return of the band that brought us countless hits like "Still The One" "Dance With Me" and "Love Takes Time". The stellar remake of "Dancin' In The Moonlight" is the perfect seasonal sing-along record. This new hit version has all of the musical elements you come to expect from this powerful trio. With trademark Orleans harmonies, this King Harvest oldie but goodie gets the five star treatment and makes the listener want to keep playing it over and over again. "Mission of Mercy" is one of Larry Hoppen's personal favorites from the album. One can see why, it has a great story, wonderful vocal support by the band, and it really kicks things off to a fine start on this new disc. The inspirational track "Heaven" continues this winning streak with more of the same good feeling vibe you get when you listen to any song on this collection. Let's not forget the much copied and emulated guitar styling of the recently elected rock and roll congressmen from New York -Mr. John Hall. This album is loaded with his signature axe chores throughout, and along with the three part harmonies of Larry, Lance and John, Orleans have truly delivered a solid album which can sit proudly beside their previous efforts like "Orleans" "Let There Be Music" and "Forever". Friday Music is very proud to have the band on board and you can look to Friday Music and Orleans for further releases from the band in the near future.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I love the band Orleans. I knew their 70s stuff, of course--"Dance With Me," Still the One," etc. And I'd heard they did "Dancing In the Moonlight" a few years ago. Since I love them, and I love that song, I had to try it. FANTASTIC! They did it to a much more mellow beat, but it WORKS. Throughout the CD, the real treasure is their bass player, Lance Hoppen. I'd never heard him sing before, and he's got a WONDERFUL voice! He sings part of the lead on "Dancing," and does all the lead singing on "Heaven" and "In My Dream"--a song that will break your heart. He's an amazing bass player anyway, but his voice is a true find. I think Orleans would have been popular longer if he'd sung lead on some songs. "Love's Not Just For Other People," sung by Larry Hoppen, is terrific too. Just an all out great CD. I lost my first copy, and had to get another one. It's that good! If you like intelligent lyrics, great singing, and true talent and musicianship, this CD is for you."
