Synopsis

Product Description
Elektra Records and HBO have joined forces once again for 'True Blood: Music From The HBO® Original Series Volume 2.' The album follows last year's Grammy Award nominated 'True Blood:Music From The HBO® Original Series,' which featured tracks from the acclaimed HBO drama's first season, including the sultry theme song, 'Bad Things' performed by Jace Everett. Volume 2 follows suit with an all-star track list including Bob Dylan, Beck, Lucinda Williams with Elvis Costello and more.

Going into the third season critics across the country have proclaimed TRUE BLOOD one of the best new shows on TV. TRUE BLOOD was the winner of two Emmys in 2009 for 'Best Drama Series' and 'Outstanding Casting For A Drama Series'. The show was also nominated for Golden Globes Award- Best Television Series - Drama. USA Today called it 'wildly imaginative,' with 'one of the best ensembles of the new series,' while the Washington Post found it 'audacious, outrageous and playfully grisly.' TV Guide hailed the show as 'graphically sexy and scary, and often wildly funny,' and 'a broadly entertaining, deliciously twisted slice of modern Southern Gothic.'

Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, TRUE BLOOD takes place in the not-too-distant future, when vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans for their fix. Set in a backwoods Louisiana town, the show follows the romance between waitress Sookie Stackhouse (played by Anna Paquin, 2009 Golden Globe winner for her role), who can read minds, and 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (played by Stephen Moyer). Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy-winning HBO series Six Feet Under®) created and executive produced the show, as well as wrote and directed episodes of the series, which is based on the popular Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.

The hugely anticipated third season of 'True Blood' is slated to premiere on HBO on June 13th, while True Blood: The Complete Second Season will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on May 25th.

CD Reviews

Get the "Deluxe Version"
M. Halsey | Oregon | 06/11/2010
(4 out of 5 stars)

"A great album, but the track from Headbone is only on the Deluxe edition. Both have the same cover artwork, and I mistakenly purchased the standard version, to my huge disappointment.

However, the deluxe edition does contain explicit lyrics, so if you're shopping for a kid...wait, you let your kids watch True Blood? Never mind, swearing isn't your biggest problem."
Ecletic mix of dark themed music - but still good
John Treble | Houston, TX USA | 07/12/2010
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Received this as a gift. We're ardent True Blood fans. This mix of eclectic dark-themed music sets the tone for more True Blood viewing. We've started listening more closely to the sound track to see if we hear any of these songs while watching the series.

I would have liked to have the Jace Everett theme song as a bonus (yes, I know it's on the season 1 CD) but still like the odd-ball tunes. One of them is stuck in my head as I write"
So much better...

"if you're a trubie like so many of us are ...then you'll buy most anything that comes along that has even the slightest hint of 'blood.' I have volume 1 - wasn't in love with it. volume 2 is so much better! It has another excellent bluesy song by jace... and many other great tracks. point being, i'm very happy to be listening to it right now as i type this review :)="
