"Omar. What can be said about The Man. He is one of many genuine Soul artists who are not fully appreciated on either sides of the Atlantic. He has given us a mass of recorded musical masterpieces since 1991. From "There's Nothing Like This", "Music", "For Pleasure", "This Is Not A Love Song", 'til now, we have seen him steadily progress as a vocalist and a musician. The "Best By Far" is a perfect collection of Latin rhythms, 70's Funk, 60's Soundtrack themes, as well as the always undeniable vocal gymnastics of one of the premiere singers of our time. With his sweet beatnik-styled dedication to his lady "Syleste", to the irresistible bump of the title track, Omar takes your ears to a place that most US artists never dare travel. On "Something Real" and "I Guess" he immediately catapults you straight to the dance floor. To quote one of the many great songs on this album, it is "Essential" that you pick this one up if you are truly a sincere admirer of Omar as well as pure Soul music for the body, the soul and the mind.It is almost frightening to know how beautiful this project is, and how much attention one knows it will not receive, due to the lack of respect on American radio for blood, sweat, and tears Rhythm & Blues.
