"I first heard Olomana live at the Honolulu Zoo at a family night concert. Their version of 'The Lion' remained with me. But later I moved to Kahalu'u (the place in the song) and this song became my 'heart.' This is the album I sought after leaving Hawaii nei. This is the group I went to hear upon my first visit home. The banyan tree it brings to mind is the one by Hygenic Store. This album was released in 1976 ! It's still timely for me. I also love 'Seabird.' Olomana changed thru the years, but this simple beginning is a testament to a couple of young men who drew from their country roots. They hadn't yet recorded much in Hawaiian, but the feeling is pure Hawaiian. The younger people may call this 'old-fashioned' but their place in the history of contemporary music is secure."

"This is a must for everyone who enjoys Hawai'ian music. The CD contains the Olomana classics Ku'u Home O Kahaluu and Ku'u Lei Awapuhi. Whenever I listen to this CD I am magically transported back home to the old days sitting under the banyan tree on Waikiki listening to Olomana."
An absolute must for all ex-pats from Hawai'i!

"I have to tell you that when I moved to LA in 1980, this was one of the albums I listened to most. And every time I listened to Ku'u Home O Kahalu'u I cried absolutly inconsolably, I missed home so much.It is one of the most beautiful songs in the world, and truly captures the longing that all Kama'ainas have when they remember the life the had in Hawaii.Thank you, Robert and Jerry!
