La Guillot is Back!!
RAFAEL A BEY | ARECIBO, PUERTO RICO United States | 08/10/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Warner Music has brought Olga Guillot back from a 20 years of absence from the recording world. Every romance loving soul has to be grateful. Olga is back in full control of her enomous talent. This recording, the 59th of a career that spans six decades, contains three of her hits from the fifties with totally new arrangements, two old boleros recorded by Olga for the first time and five new songs composed specially for this work.Olga's return to records is done in the best of company: Cachao, Meme Solís,Arturo Sandoval, Manzanero, Sylvia Rexach,Alvaro Carrillo and other Olympians. The musical arrangements are out of this world."No Sigas por favor", composed by Manzanero, is the stuff of which hits are made.Olga's rendition of "Alma Adentro", a Sylvia Rexachs classic, is the best this reviewer has ever listened(I am from Puerto Rico, the homeland of Rexach, and her fan of many years) "Miénteme", "Sin Mi" and "Tu Me Acostumbraste", three of Olga's hit recordings from the fifties, sound as fresh as new and have not lost any of their magic to bewitch the romantic souls. "Faltaba Yo" shows that Olga vocal talent is not a thing of the past. This CD is a must in any collection of Boleros. We thanks Warner Music for bringing back La Guillot. Congratulations Olga and please don't make us wait too long for your next recording.Rafael Bey Arecibo, Puerto Rico"

"Following up Mr. Bey's comments on the Faltaba Yo musical arrangement, a new talent in the musical arena, Samuel Torres, was responsible for arranging this beautiful Manzanero's piece.
