Synopsis

Album Description
In their debut offering, Ohn crafts a well-rounded sound. Starting with a base of sampled rhythm loops, they gently stir in bass grooves and keyboard sounds, melting it all down in a hot bath of guitar fuzz. In this fresh Austin six-piece, the ingredients are premium. Each member displays seasoned musicianship and has paid his dues with a variety of bands, including 16volt, Soak, Dexter Freebish, Grass, Groovin Ground, Eden's Plot, Oceanic, Retarded Elf, House In Orbit and Burn. The guitar and bass are played live and the keyboard flavors are authentic and diverse. Substituting a laptop for an acoustic drum kit helps fuse their sweet patchouli sensibility with the groovy styling of electronica, broadening their sound. The drum tracks are cut lean and spliced so nice that you'd never know they were digital, (until they bust out with impossible sounds). The result is a collection of instrumental jams that root their influence jazz-fusion while simultaneously sporting a forward thinking sound. This album is not your standard club fare, and though it can inspire one to shake it at times, its downtempo feel promotes an erotic, almost aphrodisiatic effect. Its 15 tracks tell the story in four acts separated by interludes. I found the most rewarding portion in the third section, among tracks such as "Cowboys and Indians" and "The Traveler." Here, the songs seem to come to terms with their wandering nature, and the album finds itself before propelling into a rollicking climax.

CD Reviews

Mind-blowing electronic fusion that takes you on a journey.

"This album was not what I though it would be. A friend said that they were from Texas and I could not believe it! This music is so amazing! It is a journey of sound and feels like sonic skulpture. If you love to dance, or chill, make love or go on long journeys to far away lands...this OHN music is a soundtrack you should have."
Very Cool Jams!

"Having been a fan of some of the members previous bands (Soak in particular) I was quite interested when I heard about this instrumental group OHN. Once the album came out I got it immediately and couldn't wait to pop it in and hear some new music from some very talented people. I was very pleasently surprised with the record as a whole. It's such a very atmospheric and breezy sounding piece of work. I highly recommend "Let's Get It..." to fans of jazzy/atmospheric/new wave instrumental music. Their new record is getting ready to come out soon and I gotta say that I'm very excited for it!"
