CD Reviews

Good album, not great
turkinjivester | East Coast, USA | 07/13/2002

"While recomended, "Ecstasy" is not a good starting point for those seeking early Westbound era Ohio Players. This album has tremendous strong points, but overall it lacks consistency and focus. I like this album. You should buy this album. But "Pain" and the compilation entitled "Orgasm" should be considered first. If you are new to Westbound Records, The Ohio Players is going to have to wait- Funkadelic's "Funkadelic" is most definately THE best funk album of all time and a necessary introduction to The Ohio Players' "Pain", "Pleasure", and "Ecstasy" recordings."

"the Westbound Era Ohio Players were Double the Funk&Groove.while they still had There Funk Chops with Mercury on Westbound they came prepared to straight up battle&the jams on this Set prove that&more.the title cut"Food Stamps Y'all" &other cuts here showcase the Rawness&Gut-Bucked Funk of the Players.Junie Morrison is Banging on the Boards.many of His Grooves made there way on many of the early 90's Rap/Hip-Hop Cuts."
True Funk Ecstasy!

"Greatness from cover art to music. The first song, "Ecstasy", is just awesome, among the best songs I've ever heard.

The Westbound catalog of The Ohio Players is a secret that needs to be shared. I do not know if this particular recording is the band's best, but it belongs on someone's list of funk/soul masterpieces."
