Originally recorded in 1996, Dingus is an homage to Humphrey Bogart's Sam Spade in the Maltese Falcon. The word itself means nothing in particular. That is to say the word means something, just as the colloquialisms "whatsits", or "thingamajigy" do. So, like the Black Bird, this recording is something that everybody wants and attaches a great deal of value to, yet when you scrape the tarnished paint off... damn... should have used a different example. Anyway, he got to asking one night in a fit of insomnia: "Where the hell would a hard-boiled guy like Sam Spade go if he lost his detective license, or just plain got tired of the grind?" The answer: listen
