Synopsis

Album Description
Originally release in 1999 "Incarnate" is a mammoth collection of early demos and rare material. Includes the unreleased "Yen Sleep" as well as cover versions of GRAND FUNK RAILROAD's "Inside Looking Out" and LYNYRD SKYNRD's "On The Hunt", the latter track featuring Dale Crover of THE MELVINS on drums. This now re-issued version contains 5 bonus tracks (4 being from the very last demos the band recorded), and the video of "Streetside".

CD Reviews

Take me to the hospital
Adam Brukenzei | South Bend, Indiana | 05/19/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"The clouds became one humming, scrolling grey mass. They parted. Then there was fire. The horses. Twin stallions of headsound bolloking between my woofers. Last week, a man told me that The Obsessed could physically alter my inner lobes with their screeching prayers to insanity. I laughed. Jesse, forgive me... The producer must have tackle like a quicksilver vulture on a tobogan. Incarnate may not make you want to crank it up to eleven, but it will sure as hell make you want one of those t-shirts with the sleeves cut off. And maybe some black and white make up. There is a Norwegian legend about Kjellstad, a blue-nosed dwarf who lives beneath the corn supply all winter long. When it comes to summer, and you go to cool off in the fjord, he twats you with a bleedin' fishhook. Then you're so much waste matter over a waterfall. If he had heard The Obsessed, you could be sure he'd be well into their action. And if you've ever felt like that, you should buy this CD. Of you want to follow up some influences, there's a Sabbath tape by the charcoal briquettes in your local Esso. Just to the left."
Still essential Obsessed

"If you love music, you own every Obsessed album. You have every Spirit Cavavan album. You have every St. Vitus CD with Wino on it. You have the new Hidden Hand album. You have the Place of Skulls album with Wino. And you don't have Incarnate yet? What's the problem? OK, I took off a star because of the sound quality issue of some of these salvaged tracks, but really. There are some classic songs on this CD. And since you have all the other stuff, it's time to get this CD. Wino rules, OK."
Firemunki/ The kicks of lowly anton

"Incarnate. I'd heard some things. But nothing prepared me for the fire. The horses. Six-legged stallions of sound going crazy like a rocketslap bouncing off of my woofers. The Obsessed may not have a dial that goes up to eleven, but these are men who know a good thing when they're onto it. Blessed men.The producer must have cojones like a killer whale on a black slope. There's a Norwegian legend that speaks of a smiling dwarf that lives under your corn supply in winter, and then twats you with a fishhook when you go to cool off in the fjord. That slimy son of no bloke would probably get into these guys' action. If you've ever felt that way, you need this CD. Don't hesitate. I didn't."
