CD Reviews

For Nylons fans, this is a must for your collection

"In the studio, the Nylons' multi-layered harmonies and syncopated back drops are fluid and stirring. But live, in concert, this sound, featuring the sensational vocals of Marc Connors, is electric. And that's one great reason to put this CD on your shelf. But there's an even better reason to do so--"Four On The Floor" is a true gift for Nylons' fans because it highlights one of their most enduring traits---their remarkable stage presense. Even on CD or cassette, their show grabs you, and takes you along on it's short, but wondrous journey. "Four on The Floor"'s energy helps bring most studio cuts alive---"Wildfire", in particular, benefits from this live treatment, along with can't-sit-still versions of "Chain Gang" and "Drift Away." But, to me, this collection, is bittersweet because it captures the haunting flavor and magnificent range, tone and sweetness of Marc Connors' voice, literally weeks before it was stilled so unfairly. So slip in the CD, close your eyes and picture the show you were at when you last saw them in this incarnation. Relive the majesty and full, rich texture of their sounds, complete with audience participation. "Four On The Floor" is a winner."
This is Pure and Fabulous

"I first heard The Nylons in 1982. I loved the classic Do-wop and harmonies that they presented. I had the opportunity to see them live in the spring of 1983 in Montreal. This CD is a fine representation of their abilities and style. However, it is time for a new live album with the new lineup. This album is dedicated to the memory of Marc Connors. His amazing voice is missed."
