Nirvana for people who hate Nirvana
Willie Busts | MA | 11/14/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"First time I heard thes guys I was taking bong hits with my friend. The song was "dragonfly" and it made you feel just like that. A week latter I saw them live in Connecticut and was blown away. I bought this album, and when we were in the parking lot ready to leave we ran into the singer/guitarist. He invited to the van - the '69 econoline - to smoke some of the best buds I ever sampled. These guys were way cool and ego-free. I listened to that album a million times over the next three years. Songs about touring, harvesting kind, all-night diners, blasted through my speakers with a contact high from all the second hand smoke they envoked. The guitar playing simple, the bass to the point and original in tone, the drums had the signature rythymn unlike any other Lookout band. These guys where better than Nirvana, because you knew where they were comming from. They didn't want to make you kill yourself like Nirvana did, they made you want to drive till the tank emptied out and then push the freakin' car down the hill and into the next town. These days good bands are hard to come by. Rap/metal is probably the biggest joke I've ever heard, the new alt-rock makes me wants to carve my eardrums out, and hip-hops got this boy carving something that has song structure. Simply put this will always be one of my favorite bands for the basic fact that they rocked in a way no one else ever did - with a little bit of class and a whole lot of soul. Check it out!"
