THE MASTER IN AMERICA, AND MORE
Barry McCanna | Normandy, France | 12/14/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"It was Shakespeare who wrote "Sweet are the uses of adversity", which statement is borne out by the quality of Coward's live performance in Las Vegas in 1955, the fee for which helped overcome his tax problems at home. That's followed by a selection of 78 sides recorded between 1941 and 1952. The second disc begins with the 1956 recording of Noel Coward in New York, and is concluded by the 1954 recording with the Wally Stott Orchestra and Norman Hackforth. This is surely an indispensable purchase for anyone who enjoys Coward's inimitable delivery of his frequently outré lyrics."
