(3 out of 5 stars)

"This "Aura Anthology" would get five stars if it only had all the re-recorded tracks. I am one of the few people that loved "Drama of Exile," and this "Aura Anthology" has the best sounding presentation of the legendary "re-recorded" or oftentimes called "Invisible" tracks that Phillipe Quilichini made after he lost the rights to the Demos (the stories often conflict: he stole the demos, I think it was because Nico only got paid $14,000 for the album, and tried to make off with them; so the "Drama of Exile" that was widely distributed was actually the demos. Then Quilichini went to France with Nico and tried to re-record the album, and Aura stopped distribution once they found out. If anyone can shed more light on this story, please do!)

The flaw with this album, as with most albums that release the "Invisible" tracks (Cleopatra's "Nico - Icon") is that it doesn't contain the re-recorded versions of "I'm Waiting for My Man" and "Heroes," nor the album versions of "Saeta" and "Vegas," which are slightly different. The only CD I know of that does is the "Drama of Exile" released by Buda Musique. However, the quality of the sound on the CD varies from track to track: "Saeta" and "Vegas" are almost impossible to listen to due to cracking and static. Since Aura restored the other tracks so well, I'm disappointed that they ignored these often neglected tracks.

Five stars for the tracks included and Nico's usually dismal concert, but three stars for being incomplete.

In 1984, Nico would again record "Saeta" (as "The Line"), "Vegas," and "I'm Waiting for My Man," but they were released posthumously."
