Flamma Flamma - the Fire Requiem

"Nicholas Lens' "Flamma Flamma - The Fire Requiem" is a modern opera scored for "soprano, tenor, counter, mezzo soprano, baritone bass, male actor, small choir, mixed choir, koto, chamber orchestra, and additional instruments." Although the vocalizing is in the traditional operatic style, all other aspects of this work are contemporary, with open harmonies instead of traditional chords, tonal areas instead of keys, and frequent use of electronic instruments (bass, keyboard, etc.) supplementing the orchestra.
Saddly, this excellent work received only two peformances at its premier. The liner notes say that Flamma Flamma is part one of a trilogy; it's not known whether or not the work was finished. The CD includes a bookley with pictures, a translation of the latin text, description of characters, and stage direction notes. A "steal" for $10.00!"
