Hot on the heels of Neutronic's 1998 debut, Last Year's Product, comes a disc in pretty much the same vein: playful yet complex experiments in percussion and sampling. As before, blips, bleeps, and aggressive beats dominate the action, but here Neutronic display a bit more maturity and patience--a willingness to let musical ideas develop a bit more before changing the subject. It goes a long way toward atoning for the disposable quality of the first album. Fans of thoughtful electronic dance music from the likes of Autechre or Esplendor Geometrico might find a kindred spirit in Neutronic, and even those accustomed to the kind of industrial music the Pendragon label usually puts out will find something of interest here, if only to hear what this group is capable of rhythmically. Just don't hurt yourself trying to dance to it. --Steve Landau

CD Reviews

Excellent electronic music!
06/25/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Neutronic is a new band to me, and although it is different music from what I normally listen to, it stands out. The lack of lyrics is a VERY nice change from the norm, and this album maintains a catchy beat the whole way through. Enough said, if you can find a copy of this album, I'd buy it!"
AWESUM ELECTRIC TECH MIX!!!...
Mike Reed | 10/25/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The music on this cd is an awesum mixture of tech. and electronic noises...it is extreamly futuristic and very inspiring...the band seems to be intouch with their technological side and love it too because this music raves out the feeling of pure tech with kick to the head!!!..."
Neutronic - 'Versus Planet Earth' (Pendragon Records)
Mike Reed | USA | 09/17/2007
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I remember trying to get this CD when it first came out. Never did until recently. For SOME, reason{s}, I had this title on my secondary want list. Although, after listening to 'Versus Planet Earth', I cannot remember as to WHY I wanted this disc. Don't get me wrong, it's decent 'tencho industrial'. Cuts here that seemed to hold my interest {at least for awhile} were "Nonspatial", the so-so "Little Robot Children", "Sums Of Silicon Valley" {sort of an electronic gem} and "Subverter". Followers of Coil, Aphex Twin, Skinny Puppy and Revolting C**ks might obviously get more out of this CD than I did."
