Music has always provided hope in times of crisis, and it is from the broken places that our finest voices sing out. Music From Ground Zero is a compilation CD featuring artists who live and work in and around the areas of New York City affected by the Sept. 11 terrorists attacks.

Ranging from folk to punk, from spoken word to reggae, Music From Ground Zero brings together a small, but fierce, cross section of New York artists, and it shows that New York?s strength lies in diversity. In true New York fashion, it?s DIY, with heart, soul, and guts. Every piece stands on its own, and yet the whole is still greater than the sum of its parts.

The goal of Music From Ground Zero is to bring some much-needed economic and emotional relief to the area, as well as provide another way for those of us who were here to communicate with the world. To that end, we are paying artists starting with the sale of the first CD, and we are providing free promotion to local shops and venues on the CD cover. In addition, NeuroPop will donate 10% of proceeds directly to the United Firefighter?s Association (UFA Local 94) Widows? and Children?s Fund.
