CD Reviews"DREAMS IN A BOX" IS DEFINITELY WORTH A LISTEN 10/04/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) ""Dreams In A Box" is a jewel of a collection, and one's appreciation for the depth and richness of singer-songwriter Nelda Alvarez' voice is only enhanced by repeat listenings. A mixture of popular musical standards and original songs written by Alvarez, this collection guides the listener through a landscape of varying musical styles, colors and textures, from upbeat pop to acoustic folk to seductive dance to smooth jazz. Alvarez' originally-penned songs are in turn heartfelt, sassy, reflective, and joyful. More importantly, her songs are crafted with a dose of pure, honest emotion. Indeed, it is her ability and willingness to be open and intimately honest with her audience that is her most inviting and endearing trait. "Dreams In A Box" should appeal to a wide audience, and Alverez' is a voice definitely worth a listen."
