2009 collection from the British Jazz great. With vocals resembling and music inspired by Louis Armstrong, Nat Gonella still managed to stamp his own mark on the music he loved. He started playing trumpet professionally in 1929 with the Jazz-oriented dance bands of Billy Cotton, Roy Fox, Ray Noble, and Lew Stone and in 1934 started leading his own band, the Georgians. He never wished to leave his native land but did travel to the U.S. for a brief time in 1939. He recorded the bulk of his music between 1939 and 1942 but remained an active and much loved figure on the British Jazz scene until the late 1970s when he retired. 25 tracks. Bygone Days.
