CD Reviews

The remixes are awesome
Jennifer | Los Angeles/ San Jose, CA | 03/20/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I love this cd with the remix of Girlfriend and Gone. Nelly really adds to the song, almost giving it a different flavor...more hip hop than before. The Gone remix is awesome, and while there are more beats added, you still get the awesome sound of their five voices together in perfect harmony. The Spanish version of Gone is great too, especially since they don't speak spanish. All of the songs sound great, and I definately urge people to go and buy it."
*NSYNC: THE SAGA CONTINUES...
Knyte | New York, NY | 03/23/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If any of you out there have heard *Nsync's 'two-step' remix of "Sailing" (and know how good it is), then you shouldn't pass up Track #3 on here: the 6 minute 'two-step' remix of "Gone" by Riprock 'n' Alex G vs. the Marksmen. Put it this way, if you enjoy that R&B/Club sound that Craig David has made internationally famous (that rhythmic, skippity-bop vibe), then you'll probably dig this. Also, there are more of those sonic techno-tweaks that we'd heard all over the "Pop" single -- for example, you'll hear waves of "G-G-G-G-G-G-Gone..." echoing in the chorus instead of the regular "Gone". And there's more cool computerized vocal stuff near the end of the song. I think *Nsync ought to put out a remix album full of more material like this -- and soon.Track #1 is the album version of "Girlfriend" (produced by the Neptunes) which impressed me when I first heard it. The remix featuring Nelly sounds a tad more acoustic than the original - the guitar and percussion sound "real". This adds a grittier, "in-your-face" feel that I'm sure the more discerning listeners out there can appreciate. And the Spanish version of "Gone" is beautiful, just like the original. The video to "Girlfriend" and some other extras are included as well. All in all, this is definitely worth your hard-earned currency -- that is, if you're a fan of Pop/R&B music. Stay tuned for upcoming reviews of Brandy's "Full Moon" and B2K's debut. Thanks for reading!Knyte."
NSYNC Mixes It Up With Nelly
Kristina Frazier | Fishers, IN USA | 04/28/2002
(3 out of 5 stars)

"When NSYNC decided to collaborate this past Winter with Nelly, it was no surprise to the true fans of Pop and R&B. Nelly's style teeters on the brink of mainstream while NSYNC's style borders on the brink of non-mainstream pop. Bringing these two acts together was a work of genius for Jive.Musically, Nelly brings a rap style to this Neptunes, mixed track that reminds me greatly of Lisa "left eye" Lopes's appearance on Space Cowboy. The beat compliments Nelly's rapping style and when Justin jumps in with his voice, it's almost as though he and Nelly could have been doing the song by themselves. The Spanish version of Gone feels weird to me. It's teaching me a lot of new Spanish words though ;).All in all, I would give this cd 3/5 stars. I would love to see more collaborations with NSYNC and Nelly in the future."
