CD Reviews

MFTCC capture all moods in this live recording
11/21/1998
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I first heard most of this band in concert when they were part of 'Not Drowning Waving'. They were then supporting Peter Gabriel and I found their music so hauntingly captivating that I immediately went out and bought their albums. As MFTCC they have kept the flavour but become more diverse in their choice of styles. Their music now includes folk, classical and rock but they have kept the quality and integrity of their song writing. Helen Mountfort on Cello and Hope Csutoros on violin are exquisite in their musical skills and create some wonderful and varied moods that go right to your soul. Helen especially stirs much emotion, just beautiful. This live recording is as good as the studio recordings, but has the intimacy that can only be found live. Like all prolific song writers (Neil Young, Van Morrison, ETC), choose any of MFTCC albums and you won't be disappointed. Also if you like this band try 'The Whitlams'."
A Slow Storm Brews - Acoustic Moodmasters Deliver

(5 out of 5 stars)

"The plush sound familiar to acolytes of Austrlia's superb 'My Friend the Chocolate Cake' is given the full concert treatment in this lovely recording. The passionate sincerity and intelligence of David Bridie, Helen Mountford and the other stellar musicians make this a recording that combinines the band's trademark elegance of sound with the elan and spirit of live performance, as those whirling strings, haunting vocals and terrific songs create a mix of baroque, folk and beautiful pop. An irresistable recording."
