CD Reviews

The very definition of beauty
Jonathon D. Colman | Seattle, Washington USA | 11/27/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This was my very first CD of classical music. The beauty of the strings on Bach's "Air" (full version, not cut) and Barber's "Adagio" inspired me to learn more about classical music and the artists. Not bad for a 19 year old college kid at an engineering school! There's so much more out there than just "Kanon"!I eventually started my own classical music show on a college radio station and became familiar with all sorts of artists and works. But I still come back to the great recordings on this CD and it's still my favorite. It's no mistake that most of the pieces on this CD have been used in movies from "Platoon" to "Seven," not to mention most of the weddings I've been to.Play this CD to get girls. To impress dates. To wind down after a workout. As background music for a too-small cubicle. Most of all, play it for you! You deserve -- you owe it to yourself! -- to understand this kind of musical beauty and perfection."
A Pure Flute
Juan Carlos | San Diego | 03/06/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"For anyone considering this CD, the performance of Claude Monteux on 'Dance of The Blessed Spirits', alone, is worth the purchase price. In an age where the public is accustomed to the "fruity" flute sound of James Galway, or the power and precision of Emmanuel Pahud, the "pure" flute of Monteux seems near perfection....A Masterpiece!"
