Like listening to a very good jam session...

"Mushroom's "Analog Hi-Fi Surprise" combines early 70's Canterbury style avant-garde progressive rock, (groups like Matching Mole, Soft Machine), early-mid 70's Miles Davis (albums like "Agartha" and "Pangaea") with the ethic of newer Krautrock influenced "post rock" groups like Tortoise. This all instrumental album is colored with Fender-Rhodes piano, analog synths, mellotron, wah-wah guitar, solid bass, and real drums. The music is loose and the groove rules the proceedings. Kind of like listening to a very good jam session."
