CD Reviews

Murs rips the town down with this wonderful classic.

"There's a funny and good story behind my purchase of this CD, mainly being that Murs sold this to be BY HAND at a show he did in Miami. He was a very nice person and let me have an autograph and picture, so you see, this review is biased. Anyway, the CD. It rocks. Murs has a style all his own and this CD is really the birth of Murs as a hip-hop contender. 24 hrs. is a really cool song where Murs uses samples from grover from Sesame Street to sing the chorus, really inventive. Never eat has an excellent laid-back, sexy beat and a very descriptive story. Murs never hesitates to tell you stories of his life, (all the LA story's), and even freestyles for you in the first song ("Simple"). He has so many styles and so much to say that the listener will really vibe off of his sense of humor and cool personality. Overall, rap fans of all types will definatly love this CD, it's very easy to get into."

"With Murs' second (cd) release, I feel he hit home to most of his fan base on this cd. With several dope tapes under his belt (bac for no good reason, comurshul), his 3MG gypsys affiliation, and his first cd release (f'real) which was a battle rhyme orrientated cd, many heads were anticipating this release. Murs absolutely speaks his mind and views on this cd.
The cd starts off with "simple" which I wasn't feeling, fast pased and a dull beat, but lead well into "24 hours" which takes us on a journey through Murs' typical day. The grover voice snippets were classic.
The highlight of the album is the next track, "zonin" which Murs covers about every topic Murs feels strongly about. His first verse covers the topic on battle rhyme artists and conscious rappers, and Murs gives props to Master P and other rappers who many heads might front on, for being exposed on MTV. What many people may take offense to is the many fan base groups Murs disses on, such as the hip hop hippies, internet heads, and the stoner rappers.
Another track worth checking is "Mystical Way" with an insanely dope beat, a noteworthy verse from eligh and a really nice freestyle by Murs.
With many tight tracks on the album and all the verses being tight there are some flaws on "good music". The production is pretty weak, and gives you the underground feel. If you want to avoid this, you must check out his later release "Murs rules the world". Also, other tracks, I felt did not go well with the whole album. "Regrets, Murs f.m., Rap above" all have dull beats and the lyrics do not really say anything like the normal melancholy Murs would say.
Do not get me wrong, this is a good cd, but if you want to listen to the raw, straight from underground Murs go to "F'real", dope beats and crisp production go with "Murs rules the world", and the thought provoking Murs go with the 3MG releases, but where does that leave "good music"??? This is a basic album, mainly for straight Murs fans, but if you are a legends fan, or experiencing the hip hop scene, Murs "good music" will be a nice add to the collection bin, but might fall behind when compared to a lot of other albums."
