CD Reviews

Musically fascinating and beautifully sung
Andrew Miele | USA | 08/24/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The virtuosity and beauty of the Bach concert arias are revelatory, and Elizabeth Futral is surely the most vocally splendid and musically committed lyric coloratura in the world today. She has been in the public eye since her MET audition win in the early 90s and has grown vocally, technically and dramatically with a consistency that is uncommon in our new quick-fix cyber-reality of opera."
Masterful Mozart
Barrie Martin | Sydney,NSW, Australia | 07/07/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Sir Charles Mackerras demonstrates Mozart's amazing facility with decorations to suit not only different moods but also different voice types. Illustrated by using examples where Mozart provided ornamentations of his and other composers' music this CD features three singers of differing voice types and the the Hanover Band. Mackerras controls the whole process to show again why his scholarship and musicianship are so highly valued. A must for those interested in the finer points of musical appreciation."
Interesting insight into Mozart vocal practice
Kimchi Kraut | San Francisco | 05/21/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Works by J. C. Bach and Mozart in their original version are contrasted with the ornamented versions by Mozart (by Corri in the case of Voi che sapete). While there are better versions of the familiar Mozart works, this recording is definitely worth a listen if you are interested in historical vocal practice or florid singing in general."
