(5 out of 5 stars)

"With all the conducting Dmitri Sitkovetsky does nowadays, it is remarkable that he retains the beautiful tone and technique of his violin playing. Anyone familiar with his excellent set of the Mozart Violin Concertos will not be surprised by the superb quality of this CD. The sound engineering is open, full bodied, and natural, a tribute to the work of Gunter Appenheimer, who is perhaps best known for the series of orchestral CDs he engineered for Naxos in Bratislava during the late 1980's. Lifschitz is fully integrated into the interpretive picture. He plays with a full tone and marvelous articulation, partnering Sitkovetsky with subtlety and attention to nuances. In sum, anyone who loves Mozart's violin music should be drawn to this CD. It is comparable, if not superior, to the legendary Joseph Szigeti recordings on Vanguard."
