Golden moments to treasure...

"This recording couples the three sonatas of Mozart recorded by Horowitz in his last years. The old master in his eighties still displays a formidable controle over the instrument and produces some of the richest and deepest sounds I have ever heard. Although I don't really like his other recordings made in his ultimate years, these Mozart sonatas are superb. He plays the music with such joy, playfulness and liveliness that you hardly can't believe this is a man in his eighties. On top of that is the fact that these recordings are of superb quality - the Deutsche Gramophon-engineers have done their work splendidly. You can enjoy a wide spectrum of beautiful "sound colours". If you compare these recording to those by other pianists, this one is certainly one of the most vivid, and to me one of the very best. Mr. Horowitz isn't one of my favoutite pianists, but in this recording he has certainly stolen my heart and gained my lifelong adoration. This disc is one of the greatest gems in my entire collection."
