Jacob Cats (1577-1660) was one of the most widely read writers in Dutch literary history. His work offered practical morality, attractively packaged. The booklet here contains the full original song texts in Dutch, and a synopsis of every song in English. The Camerata Trajectina ensemble has made a name for itself playing Dutch music from the Middle Ages through the 17th century. Artistic director Louis Peter Grijp carries out his research for Camerata Trajectina at the Meertens Institute of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences, Amsterdam. The ensemble has given hundreds of concerts in the Netherlands, Belgium, and many other European countries, as well as in the United States and Canada.
