Synopsis

Album Description
Mountain was formed in 1969 by guitarist Leslie West and Cream producer Felix Pappalardi. This 2 CD live concert recording was taped in Karlshamn, Sweden in 1994 and it has been remastered. Leslie and Felix met while West was a member of Long Island R&B band the Vagrants, local heroes who never broke nationally; when West left to record the solo album Mountain, Pappalardi produced it for him. The results were satisfying enough for the two to form a partnership, and Mountain's first lineup included drummer N.D. Smart and keyboardist Steve Knight. The group played its fourth live performance ever at Woodstock, after which Smart was replaced by Corky Laing. Voiceprint. 2006.

CD Reviews

WOW - wish I would have listened to these guys before!!!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I can't say that I'm a long tenured Mountain fan - I heard a tune off this CD on Pandora Radio and thought, since the CD was really cheap, I'd buy it for that track alone and maybe rip it for my bar band. Well, long story short - this is one very cool CD... A sampling of basic power blues and rock, presented in a fairly simple format, but very powerful and simply put - Hotter than Dutch love (no idea, My Grandmotehr used to say it all the time, and she was from Ireland?!). So, I'm going to explore the Mountain library a bit and find out more about them. I'm plenty old enough to remember their hit days, at which time I didin't like them, but maybe a little aging and being in a raw live setting brings out the best in the band. If you like your music live, powerful, solid, raw and hot, this is a must have CD.

Cheers"
