Synopsis

Album Description
The Chorus sine nomine choir, founded by Johannes Hiemetsberger in 1991 and one of Austria's leading vocal ensembles, has set itself the task of cultivating a capella music in all its variety. The six Bach motets presented here rank among the most beautiful and sublime works that have ever been written for choir, although they only make up a diminutive proportion of the composer's enormous overall oeuvre. This music seeks a confrontation with the questions, depths, and contradictions of human existence. Hence, for modern man these motets represent a timeless instrument for coming to terms with his existence.
