CD Reviews

It's BOB MOSLEY but the label is SAN FRANCISCO SOUND
AudioObscurica | United States | 09/18/2001
(2 out of 5 stars)

"The problem here is a good musician such as Bob Molsey is recording for a label as notoriously bad as San Francisco Sound. Guess where the royalties go? The MATTHEW KATZ SUES MOBY GRAPE AND IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY FUND. It's your choice, like anything on the SFS label, you buy the discs and you give Katz your money to sue your favorite band."
Bob Mosley - Live At Indigo Ranch

(4 out of 5 stars)

"While most fans of Moby Grape appropriately loathe Matthew Katz and his interminably miserable effect on the band, that is irrelevant in reviewing this CD. Mosley's vocals are as plaintive, powerful, and spare as ever. The backing musicians, while not as good or as brilliant as the Grape, provide a sturdy, tuneful framework for this dark, down-on-your-luck collection of songs. Generally, they share a disappointed, nearly skid row point of view as Bob sings about life near the bottom of the food chain. All that has gone wrong in his life, and those good bits and pieces that keep him going are explored in this heartfelt album. If you like the Grape and Bob Mosley, in particular, this is a must have. And it is a long CD, as well - you certainly get value. When I saw a Moby Grape concert back in 1997, I gave the CD to Bob to autograph and he was almost amazed to see a copy of it."
FROM MOSLEY TO MOPEY

"FIRST OFF , DON'T GET ME WRONG HERE AS I AM A HUGE FAN OF MOBEY GRAPE AND BOB MOSLEY...BUT... WHOMEVER RATED BOB AS ONE OF THE 3 BEST ROCK BASSISTS IS A NUTCASE!

BOB IS GOOD BUT HARDLY ONE OF THE BEST.

LIVE AT INDIGO IS FUN FROM THE FACT WE GET TO HEAR BOB AGAIN ...BUT..

HIS BASS PLAYING IS MINIMAL AND MUDDLE IN BACKGROUND.

HIS SONGS ARE FUN . I REALLY LIKE ANOTHER COLD BEER. JUST THINKING ABOUT IT MAKES ME THIRSTY.

THE REST OF THE BAND IS WELL LETS JUST NOT SAY ANYTHING !

IF YOU ARE A BOB MOSLEY FAN YOU NEED THIS FOR YOUR COLLECTION."
