CD Reviews

"We-Wewease Bwian!"

(4 out of 5 stars)

"And the Lord said, let there be re-issues...

Unfortunately, the word "NEW" is a major mis-nomer here. The liner notes are from 1999's "Monty Python Encyclopedia",and the artwork is someone's cut and past job of some "OLD" Terry Gilliam artwork.( And the film photos are not exactly revelations either.)

This album is amusing. Not their best soundtrack, but funny,as Eric Idle as "The Producer",and Graham Chapman as the "Dyslexic Voice Over",attempt to make sense of the film "Life Of Brian" and someone's badly scribbled notes. ( Brian apparently is chased by Lobsters! ). The Bonus Material is the real reason to repurchase this album, and that is your dilema!

"Otto Sketch" and "Otto Song" both appeared on the Critereon DVD version of the film. ( As did the radio ads.). "Otto Song Demo" is a funny alternate version that sounds like a German Barroom-lads around the old piano sing-a-long."Brian Song (Alternate Version)" is still sung by Sonia Jones, with alternate lyrics, and sounding slightly less Shirley Bassey/"Goldfinger". It's interesting to hear, but ultimately, the one finally used, was the wiser choice.

The Bonus tracks are a bit skimpy. So choose wisely!"
