La Venexiana is brilliant

"The ensemble of work of La Venexiana in this CD is brillant, first rate. The singing quality of the voices are beautifully controlled in regards to the music of Monteverdi. The direction by Caludio Cavina seems to these ears to be right on. Technically the sound, too, meets the singing ensemble work.

I have Monteverdi's Quinto Libro der Madrigali by Concert Italiano directed by Rinaldo Alessandrini which have most of the singers from Venexiana and it in no way matches the sound technically and artistically.

I find Alessandrini direction to be very internal and with less change in dynamics, limp. For my ears, this 5th book could and should be redone by La Venexiana and it would fair much better.

Anything that La Venexiana has produced is excellent and I have all of them. So if you want to hear deWert, Marenzio, Gesualdo, Monteverdi get their recordings."
