CD Reviews

Amazing? YES!
Tyler Aikens | New Brunswick, Canada | 02/02/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Bought this CD at one their shows. Awwwwwwesome! Best live band outta Canada I swear to you. Best rack is "Tonight I'm Gone...". This album is one of those records that make you experience every emotion while you listen to it thoroughly: happy, sad, even confused. If you like this CD, try to find their EP "Smaller Chairs For The Early 1900's". It's pretty rad too. Although, they've just been signed to VAGRANT RECORDS (Saves The Day, Dashboard Confessional, etc.) and their latest track "Are We Really Happy With Who We Are Right Now?" ..."
Great release by a great band....

"Moneen is kind of a new name to the American scene. They have been rocking Canada for a couple years, but do not come here often. That is soon to change with their sign to Vagrant Records. Enough about that. This cd is really amazing if you like bands who do not stick to one certain refrain in their songs this is a good one for you. Song writing is strangely eerie at times yet impeccable. Standout track for me is 'tonight i'm gone...'. Check out the samples of their music before you buy. This is one of the bands that everyone will not like, but if you do they are going to be a favorite."
What if I were to wrap it in a dead seagull?

"If you think this band is just a record band and only sounds good on recordings, well then you'd be wrong. They sound exactly the same live if not better. The only difference is intensity. On most recordings, intensity gets lost in the recording process. Not .moneen. This is a very intense record and in the quiet parts, you really feel what's trying to be said, even if the words being said are "What if I were to wrap it in a dead seagull, would it find its way home," the picture in your head alone draws into the emotion. Only draw back I didn't like all that much was Dr. Lazlo talking during Tonight, I'm Gone... I thought the idea was cool but i wanted to hear the music more than this guy talking. Although it made it more interesting to listen to what he was saying rather than it be just him talking. Listen to what the guy is saying. It's kinda interesting. Stand outs, "The start to this may be the end to another," "No better way..." "Why bother wondering..." "Tonight, I'm gone...""
