Very good house tracks

"This CD was the first Mondo Grosso album that I got. Although this album contains some tracks which i didn't like, Shinishi Osawa will never disapoint me, and for me, he has more ability in house music and some other genres, than electronic rock and techno. Anyway, buy this cd, it has very good tracks, like "Blaze it Up", "Everything needs love" and "Graceful ways"."

"Japanese solo mix artist Shinichi Osawa, better known as Mondo Grosso gives the dance music enthusiast a nice offering of contemporary grooves of house rhythms that relies heavily on r&b-disco influences and on doses of acid jazz. The uplifting beatz sound retro, mixing in with female vocals reminiscent of Donna Summers in her heyday. The catchy tune "Motormouth" is one of those instantly recognizable songs that will having you doing your own psuedo-kareoke as you shake your thang. Some songs are not just the right fit for the genre. For example, "Fight for Your Right," the rebellious teenage anthem for the party life comes across like a meek female plead put to a dance beat;this is not a good fit. By contrast the missing angry energy is replaced with futuristic robotic drone vocals on "Dancefloor Combat" for a song that would be right at home as a center piece of rave scene from a movie; think Kraftwerk goes to Japan. There is one familiar song that features an interesting blend of cross cultural vocals that is sung in Japanese as the beat slowly creeps in to sweep you away on the international wave. The tempo does slow down on certain tracks as on the title track, "Next Wave" which opens up with some dreamy laid back effects to create a mesmerizing hipnotic groove. The sultry female vocals that float in and out of the song creates a a nice downtempo number and one of the stronger songs on the disc.Personally I believe the disc would have benefited with more songs like "Next Wave." However, if you are into dance music you might like this high energy offering from Japan."
