CD Reviews

2nd solo is a tight one - 4.5 stars
G$ | B-More, MD | 07/01/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"It's been a little over 10 years since MJG released a solo album, and this being his 2nd one is a very good album and worthy of 4.5 stars, almost a 5 star album and it will probably be a top 10 album of 2008. Like all albums on Real Talk Ent., this one only has 10 songs, and minimal guest appearances (on 1 song). Of the 10 songs, 1 is almost a classic, 2 are ok, the other 7 are good, with most being real good. Production is nice as well and handled by the 3 who do all the production on Real Talk Ent. album. Big Hollis and Preach do 5 songs, Cosmo does 4, and Vince V does 1 song. A nice album to have from a dwon south veteran.

#2 - 9 (nice beat)

#3 - 9 (f/ Eightball {A verse off his "Doin it Big" album) -- nice beat)

#5 - 8.5

#6 - 8

#10 - 9.5 (tight beat)

#11 - 7.5

Good Album

"I was very excited about seeing a MJG solo album as I have been a fan of both 8Ball & MJG for years. The production is pretty good but I think lyrically I wouldve expected a little more from MJG considering his longetivty in the rap game on this album. I mean I normally like his type of flow/lyrics (all about Pimpin and blazin) when he is with 8ball (Street concious poet) to offset it. Maybe they shouldve arranged the songs on the album not to be about pimpin back to back. But I do like the album and its a good buy if you like southern rap."

"Knock on wood twice, pour the dranks, dim the lights!!! It's been a long time comin' since "No More Glory", but that skinny boy MJ finally dropped another solo cut! This s__t's too trill and buries just about everything else that's come out this year. I was kinda skeptical at 1st cuz i wasn't feelin "Ridin Hi" from last year, but this AIN't Ridin' HI!! A lot better....this boy gettin back that Suave House groove...Numtumbot??"
