CD Reviews

Stunningly Brutal!!!

"Before Heirs to Thievery is released in a few months from Misery Index the band has unleashed upon us 'Pulling out the Nails'- some brutal music that dates from 2001-2008. These 30 tracks are their songs that were on 7in, eps, and all previously unreleased songs, as well as some live songs and covers-over 70min of music. The band put together a massive booklet w/lyrics and album covers for all the releases as well as an exhausting description/dates of all tours/live performances the band has played to date. To say this is a collectors dream is an understatement. If you're new to the band then get out from under the rock you're hiding under for crissakes. Misery Index is a brutal death/grind band that is from Maryland. The band over the yrs have gone through some line-up changes and the band has had better productions on each of their releases, as time has gone on. The band live is probably one of the tightest bands out there that play this type of music. Being able to stop on a dime when you're playing as fast as they do is really a testament to the dedication this band brings to the table. I had a bunch of the eps already, so I probably have had only 1/2 the songs on here. Thanks to Scott Hull the remastering of all these songs are fantastic. The songs are crisper and cleaner sounding and as a result sound more powerful. Misery Index are one of the elite in the death/grind genre and this release crushes. Grind Till Death!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The fabled 'missing' lp

""no, we don't want to do a split 7" with your stupid f'n band" - unless that band is misery index

it's possible this collection could have won even planet seth over...on 2nd thought, he'd probably still hate it. but that does not change the fact that this is a savage collection of uncompromising xtremity - culled from numerous splits and eps over the years - by one of the most important black flag bearers o' the underground. as always the lyrics are enclosed, and quickly reveal that this band is far more than just another pretty noise

throw in alt versions o' lp standards, a couple of covers, and it's a win-win

get 'em while you still can; it's worth every penny borrowed from uncle dead sam - he who haunts the cd 'garage' backdrop"
