Synopsis

Product Description
Sparks Fly is a high-energy pop rock album, which incorporates many of Cosgrove's influences such as modern hit makers like Gwen Stefani, Beyonce and Lily Allen. The Nickelodeon star co-wrote several songs on Sparks Fly, including the first single, "Kissin U." Miranda Cosgrove co-wrote "Kissin U" with Claude Kelly (Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus) and the song was produced by Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson, Ke$ha), whom Cosgrove already greatly admired. All of the songs on Cosgrove's debut album are about boys and first loves, subject matter that's hardly far-fetched - the teen sensation and her friends are "always talking about our relationships and stuff." But Cosgrove's songs also have cross-generational appeal. Tracks like the synth-laden "Bam," the confessional pop smash "Disgusting" and the club banger "Oh Oh" all feature irresistible hooks, and are nearly impossible to forget - no matter how old the listener is.

CD Reviews

An honest review....

(4 out of 5 stars)

"I bought this sort of as a joke to myself, I'm a skank (I listen to ska) so pop really isn't my cup of tea, but looking at this album with all my musical preferences and extreme hate for anything popular set aside i must say this album is actually not bad. Sure every song is very simple in chord progressions, beats, bass line, and all that, but sometimes keeping it simple is a good thing. It could've used more songs and maybe some in a different key (cuz they all sounded alike to me), but its a great start for Miranda Cosgrove's music career. With as much as i hate pop with its lack of two-tone beats and a brass section, i give this album 4 stars. Had it been maybe 3 or 4 songs longer, it may have gotten 5.

4 stars."

"As the mother of a young girl, I had no hesitation about buying this album for my daughter (something I can't say for very much of the music out there that's flung in her direction). The music is upbeat, age-appropriate, and very reminscent for me of what life was like at that "just on the cusp" age, where romance is everything. The lyrics are thoughtful and heartfelt, the tunes catchy and fun -- in fact a couple are so firmly entrenched in my head, I find myself humming them at work (much to my co-workers' chagrin). A great job by Miranda!"

"I love this album! My family and I are so into Miranda Cosgrove. She is such a wonderful actress. When I heard of this release I had to check it out. Wow! This album is great. Each song sounds great and makes you feel good. I myself bought the digital download version of this but that is just how I buy albums. You don't have to be a fan of iCarly to enjoy this but I must say that us fans sure do love this. If you love the feel good atmosphere of the show iCarly, this album will do the same, it will make you feel good. I hope Miranda makes more albums in the future. Get this. It's great."
