Dazzling Heavy Metal

"Despite a rather cheap and dodgy looking album cover, this is top quality heavy metal. The album is both progressive and varied and is a little like listening to a 'best riffs & solos compilation!' The guitar lines and songs don't have a definitive thread that combines them and their appears to be elements of Vai, Bettencourt, Pantera, Dream Theater, Ozzy and Dio as well as virtually every other competent metal band. The variety of songs make for an interesting and (suprisingly) up-beat progressive metal album that benefits from competent musicianship and melodic vocals. The only criticism I could give is that the album is a little short, and with catchy songs like these seems to be over far too quickly. This is one of my favourite heavy metal albums and although not scoring heavily on the originality stakes it does restore my faith in 'flashy' guitar bands."
