Brilliance marred by abominable sound

If you have any qualms about poor recording quality, then please pause before buying this. It has absolutely atrocious sound - on "Autumn Leaves" the rhythm section is basically inaudible.



Nevertheless, if you can get past that issue, then this is one of the earliest live performances by the legendary 'Second Great Quintet'.

And it is a tremendous performance. The experimental nature of this band is immediately apparent. Compare Hancock's solo on "My Funny Valentine" here to his solo on the eponymous album - or check out Wayne Shorter's unbelieveably weird entry into the music on "Autumn Leaves".



It is a great pity that this disc has such poor sound. Maybe someone will remaster it some day...?"

"A note about the sound quality; This rare concert was taken from a TV broadcast and the original master already had a variety of problems, including a tape hiss, noises and constant volume variation"



The sound variation and hiss is there, but the sound quality is still ok compared to other live recordings of this era. This is a recording to be enjoyed by true Miles Davis fans.
