Legendary vibraphonist Mike Mainieri, the leader of Steps Ahead, joins alto saxophonist Charlie Mariano and bassist Dieter Ilg in a double-CD tribute to John Coltrane, Crescent. Mainieri says, 'This was one of Charlie Mariano's last recordings before his death in 2009. Just about every selection on this 2-CD set was a first take. Charlie's energy and the essence of his soulful performance were an inspiration to me those two memorable days, which I cherish as a gift from an enlightened soul...
