"Mike Garson is an extremely skilled Jazz pianist, amoung other things. his work with Bowie has always demonstrated not only skill but a sort of eccentric cleverness and strong sense of what works, as well as a vast musical experience. his solo work, being more of a "pure" jazz, is even more amazing! this cd was recorded back in the 80's and doesnt have the clearest quality ive ever heard, and it has to be turned up louder than modern cd's to hear it as well, but it is not a bad recording by any means. The performances are out of this world. a coulple of the sax parts are a little too "am radio" for me...but overall this is great stuff. some wonderful playing by all the musicians on this one. the bass does some really interesting things on a few tracks. of course, its Garson's wonderful piano tones that really sparkle!"
