USA | 02/23/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "Unfortunately, the name of "Miff Mole" may not be known by jazz devotees, unless they collect sides of the great bands of the 20's and 30's. He is frequently featured with Red Nichols and Doc Evans, heads his own group, and is outstanding in the recording by the Original Memphis Five with Connee Boswell. These sides demonstrate how accomplished a musician he was and, undoubtedly, he belongs with George Brunis and Jack Teagarden as one of the best traditional jazz trombonists. His ensemble work is solid and foundational to the band sounds and his solos are very creative. Miff's recordings here are very representative of his work and secures his place in the annals of the best Dixieland ever played. Check him out in Leonard Feathers' "Encyclopedia of Jazz" and own jazz histories."
