"what has happened here? i dropped out of the "artsy prog-rock" scene a while back and picked this album up to revisit those days. remember when mick karn used to play with torn and bozzio and a wide variety of eclectic musicians that were all venting hyperactive creativity? well, that aint happening here. forget about the other sound-crafting entities i mentioned and just focus on mick karn on this one. no more beloved junkie soundtracks. i have to say that he may have played his best bass licks years ago and those days are behind him. this realease, along with his other more recent titles, make it seem as though he is rummaging through a stockpile of old tapes that had half-baked ideas on them and is releasing them as "records" after just minimal studio treatment. this record sucks.



mick karn is a great sculptor and makes the most imaginative statuary for a living. his basswork mirrored that once before.



its only fair to say that he had some very great ideas in the past and a very unique approach. but that unorthodox unique approach may only allow for a certain number of tricks before it becomes a bad gimmick.



this album represents just that. i got my bass out of the closet, played along to this thing and realized what was going on here-not much. show me another album that does something else.



for people looking for that weirded out slippery sound, mick karn isnt selling it anymore. revert to some percy jones records instead. tunnels is percys new project and spanks mick karns crummy new records."
