Included are exemplary recordings of the major song cycles "Die Schone Mullerin", "Die Winterreise" and "Der Schwanengesang" by Franz Schubert as well as songs by Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, Hugo Wolf, Carl Loewe and Richard Strauss - and there are many works just waiting to be discovered, such as songs by Hans Pfitzner, Peter Cornelius and Heinrich Marschner. Incl. a book which supplies a wealth of information, incl. a comprehensive biography about Michael Raucheisen and biographical information about the edition's most important composers and perfomers.

Great collection

"It would be a great mistake to take seriously the review written by

Mr. George Goldberg. This is a marvelous Lieder collection

sung by the the great performers. It seems to me that the

reason for such a terrible and completely unjust review is as follows.

One of CDs, namely, No 31, has been burned with A WRONG RATE.

Therefore, one can hear that on this CD Raucheisen plays very slow and

the great tenor Julius Patzak sounds like a baritone. This is a serious

mistake of the Company, but it can be corrected with help of computer

(if one works under Windows, the program 'Audacity'

and some other programs can do the change of rate very well).

Listening to about 20 other ones from this 66 CD collection

I have not found other mistakes. Together with delivery,

I have paid about 110Eu to amazon.de and I would

not return this collection back even for 200 US$."
