Synopsis

Album Description
Michael's 4th full length recording "FROSTY THE BLUESMAN" hit #15 on the BILLBOARD Blues chart in December of 96?, and explores the holiday favorites from a Bluesman?s perspective. It was released by the GRAMMY nominee company MIRAMAR, and distributed worldwide by industry giant BMG. While not all the selections have a strict Blues beat, or chordal structure, the Blues essence shines throughout. There are the bent notes, slurs, wiggles, and vibratos that only become part of your musical vocabulary when one does some serious ?shedding? (or studying) of the Blues. Even though the musical bottles change, the wine inside remains the same. Also for the first time on a recording, Michael features a vocalist (Priestley Thompson) on a total reworking of ?Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer?. Rob Mullins is on keyboards, Mark Ivester played drums, Nonda Trimis is on percussion, along with special guests Clipper Anderson (Acoustic Bass), Chris Alpine (Comedic Voice), Jeff Smith ! (Conga), and Deon Estus (George Michaels? Musical director) on Electric Bass . There are 14 songs in all, and over 63 minutes of music.

CD Reviews

Frosty Rocks!

"I first became aware of frosty the blues man CD by watching the video on the "Blues that you can use" CD. I'm not a fan of hearing the same old sappy Chritsmas songs over and over. But when Michael plays, I listen! If you have only one Christmas CD in your colection, this should be it!"
Tired of the same old Christmas Music?

"Frosty The Bluesman is my "new favorite" Christmas CD! I received it as a gift last year, played it nonstop all season, and just took it out again. (Yes, I know, it's only October but I can't help myself!) Michael Powers' arrangements of these classic holiday songs are so refreshing and different, they make the old seem new again. His poignant rendition of "Silent Night" nearly leaves you breathless...just in time to send you off toe-tapping with "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer".
"Salsa Claus?" if you say so, Michael. We're thinking "Love Boat meets Copacabana", but it's fun either way. FANTASTIC album. Do NOT miss this one!"
An excellent Christmas album!

"I can play this CD over and over. It's cheery and upbeat. It is my favorite instrumental Christmas CD, and the ONLY one I could never get tired of. I tried to buy it for my brother and was told at Sam Goody's that "it's out of print." ? So just in case it is, or may be soon, buy it while you can!"
