Synopsis

Michael Peterson used to be a motivational speaker, and now that he's a country star, he seems to have a similarly inspirational intent. Like his hero Garth Brooks, Peterson makes music to live by, except that (unlike Garth at his best) he tends to deliver his messages as wisdom imparted from on high rather than lessons learned. So even a song with solid advice like "You Find Love When You Make It"--a cut that follows the album's Garth + Michael McDonald sound equation--comes off like you're being talked down to by someone who's sure he has all the answers. And some of those answers are downright scary. "Two of the Lucky Ones," a duet with Bekka Bramlett, means to express a profound gratitude but winds up expounding a grim theology: if you've found true love, Peterson explains, then you're one of a "chosen few" upon whom "heaven sure smiled." Apparently then, an arbitrary heaven frowns down upon the unlucky rest of us, or ignores us altogether. So much for motivation. --David Cantwell

All I can say is WOW!!!!

"I have always been a huge Michael Peterson fan, but I never thought that anyone can ever accomplish an album better than his debut, until someone did. It was Michael Himself! His sophomore album, "Being Human" is wonderful. This album is about being human, it's about living and loving and having a great time in the process. And this is not just my opinion.A friend of mine listened to this album. She was not a country fan before..she is now. I was in an art class and the teacher suggested we bring our own music. When it was my turn, I played Michael Peterson's "Being Human" CD and before long, people were asking me who that is. If there was one album worth getting this year, this would be the one"

"Michael Peterson's new album is Phenomenal, it really is. And I am not saying this just because I am a hard core Michael fan. I believe this album far exceeded my expectations. I absolutely adored the debut album, but this is even better. I can not get enough of it. There are a number of beautiful love songs on this album that are as good for a wedding as his previous #1 hit "From Here to Eternity," but can also be used for an anniversary. These are Songs such as "Slow Dance" Slow dance is a Beautiful Waltz, that makes your heart skip a beat. It is one of the most beautiful songs that I have ever heard. This song tends to take my imagination to a different time and place, suddenly I am in a Ballroom wearing a beautiful gown and waltzing the night away with my prince. Then there is the beautiful ballad called "Before another day goes by" which is a Bonus track on the album, and it is basically about a man who finally gets the courage to tell the woman he loves just exactly how he feels. Another beautiful love song on this album is a song called "Let me Love you one more time" I let a friend of mine listen to this song. "HOT," she's right it is a beautiful, sensual song with sexy but subtle lines like "It's like a 100 praying angels, when you're whispering my name" that tend to take one's breath away. Michael's beautiful tenor added, and you tend to lose yourself. Then there's the love song called "I owe it all to you" It starts out as a bit different from what we are used to hearing from Michael, but hey, since when did Michael produce something unoriginal, I love this song, it's very country and beautifully written and performed. It's about someone who's very thankful for the person in their life and to that person for holding on to their relationship when it was on the rocky side and of course there is the gorgeous duet with Bekka Bramlett called "Two of the lucky ones" a GREAT wedding song! Their voices really go together and it is a song about two people who are looking around and are disappointed at all the breakups around them and on the other hand tremendously grateful for having each other. Then there are the message songs such as "You'll Find love when you make it" and "Being Human." "You'll find love when you make it" is a great upbeat song delivered beautifully, and it speaks of people wasting their time waiting for "the right one" and not doing anything about it. What they have to do instead is "Be the right one" and their right one will find them. This is a song that really hits home to most people. "Being Human" sends a great message, it tells people to appreciate each other and each other's individuality, and forgive mistakes, because after all, we're all just "human beings being human." There are some great upbeat songs on this album as well, that just make you laugh and dance. "Sure feels real good" is one of them; it just puts a big smile on my face. "Laughing all the way to the bank" is actually about fishing so it maintains the same kind of complex word twist that we heard in "Drink Swear Steal and Lie" and "I finally passed the Bar" it's a great fun song. "Stomp" is AWESOME! It's got this incredible beat that makes me dance whether I want to or not and puts me in this incredible mood. I dare any one to sit through "Stomp" without moving their body, snapping their fingers, tapping their toes, or clapping their hands. And then if you're pleasantly exhausted from all that tapping, snapping and clapping, well there is nothing better for you than the cool breeze called "Something about a Sunday" This album is something that you will Love for years and years to come, so open your"
